About our services
Recognizing that worship is an intensely personal experience as well as a communal one, Temple Beth-El offers a wide variety of worship service experiences.

Shabbat
Our Friday night Kabbalat Shabbat (welcoming the Sabbath) service runs about one hour and includes a great deal of music in two main styles: modern/folk and traditional/classic Reform.  The more modern approach occurs when our soloist is accompanied on guitar or at the once a month “Friday Night Live” which is an energizing experience that takes us to the next level with our T’filah band, The Jammin’ Jews.  The inclusion of the acoustic guitars, mandolin, bass guitar and accordion add to the intensity of the worship experience.  Other services include the music of our movement reaching back into traditional nusach and classic compositions, led by a soloist who is accompanied on the piano and/or the organ.

Our Erev Shabbat services are held on Fridays at 8:00 p.m., except for the one family service, which is at 6:30 p.m. on the first Friday from September through June.  Once a month we also offer a Shabbat experience for our young families (children whose age is up to 1st grade), called Shabbat Wonder. This is a fun-filled experience that includes songs, stories, crafts, and a “Milk and Cookies” Oneg!

Shabbat morning services are held at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary when we are celebrating a young man or woman becoming Bar or Bat Mitzvah. On the other Shabbat mornings, we have a more intimate service that combines contemporary liturgy and music with an extended, interactive Torah study and discussion of the weekly portion.  These morning services/Torah study last about two hours.

We hope that by offering a variety of ways to worship, everyone who wants to will be able to find a meaningful spiritual pathway, bringing each person closer to the community and closer to God. For more details on this month's observance schedule, see the calendar.
